What are Powder Brows?

Powder Brows, also known as ombre brows, are a method of semi-permanent makeup application which gives brows the appearance of a soft shading / makeup look. This method uses a machine rather than a hand held blade.

Why choose Powder Brows?

Powder brows are first of all suitable for almost all skin types, including oily and mature skin. This type of application is longer lasting compared to the likes of microblading. They can help improve the shape of your brows and make them look fuller. Powder brows are ideal if you are fed up filling in your brows with makeup every day. They also act as a great stencil if you want to add makeup to make them darker.

What is Microblading?

Microblading is done using a hand held tool to do individual hair stroke appearance. This doesn't add shading, just the appearance of hair strokes. Microblading tends not to last as long, especially on oily skin.

Will I like the shape?

At your appointment we spend a lot of time mapping out the brows before hand. I use a tool to measure out symmetry in your brows, create a shape and draw them on for you to check in the mirror and ensure you are happy with the shape before we start anything.

Prior to your appointment you can provide me with any images of brows that you have seen that you like to use as a reference point. We won't get started until you are completely happy with the shape.

I'm scared they will be too dark!

With a range of shades available, I can do your brows lighter and more subtle, or darker and more defined, depending on your preference. Adding the ombre effect can also add to the subtlety / natural appearance of the brows.

Your brows will always be darker for the first week after getting them freshly done, but will fade down to even 50% of that colour once healed. If you are very apprehensive about them being too dark, we can choose a lighter shade at your first appointment, when you come for your initial top up, we use this healed colour to decide if we want to go any darker or not.

Will it hurt?

Everyone's pain tolerance is different. The machine is actually a more delicate process compared to the likes of microblading. I will apply an anaesthetic to the skin to help with any pain and so pain / discomfort should be at a minimum.

Is it permanent / Is it a real tattoo / How long does it last?

Powder brows are a form of semi-permanent makeup application. The pigment used is not a permanent ink like in tattooing, and the needle doesn't penetrate the deeper layers of the skin like a tattoo. Powder brows can last 2-4 years, but we recommend getting a top-up every year - 18 months to keep them fresh. Your lifestyle will also affect how long they last, things like sun exposure and the use of retinoids.

What does it cost?

Powder brows cost £200 including your 6-8 week top up.

Will I need a top up?

The 6-8 week top up is recommended as we can use this appointment to check you are happy with the brows, see how they have healed and make them darker / thicker and touch up any bits if necessary. The 6-8 week top up is included in the price.

How long is the appointment?

For your initial appointment you will need to set aside 3 hours. This gives us plenty of time to map out the brow shape etc. Your top up will take less time.

Can you tattoo over old semi permanent brows / top up brows done elsewhere?

This is possible, although I will need to see a picture of the existing work before I can confirm if they are suitable to be covered over. Please contact me in advance if you have existing work.

Is there an age limit?

You must be 18 or over to have this done, and there is no upper limit.
